What Is 23-Hour Crisis Stabilization?

Our center is staffed 24/7 by a multidisciplinary team including licensed clinicians, nurses, and peer support specialists who deliver trauma-informed, person-centered care. The goal is to stabilize the crisis, assess needs, and connect individuals to the most appropriate next level of care.


Key services include:

  •  Psychiatric evaluation and medication support

  •  Individual and family therapy

  •  Crisis counseling and safety planning

  • Nursing care and health monitoring

  • Psychoeducation and skill restoration

  • Care coordination and discharge planning 

Who Qualifies for 23-Hour Crisis Care?

To be eligible for 23-Hour Crisis Stabilization at Pearls Center of Hope, individuals must meet the following clinical criteria, based on Virginia.

Medicaid guidelines:

  • Experiencing an acute behavioral health crisis that poses a risk to self or others, or significantly impairs functioning

  •  Not requiring inpatient hospitalization but needing more support than outpatient or mobile crisis services can provide

  •  Able to participate in treatment voluntarily or with guardian consent if under 18

  •  Medically stable and not in need of emergency medical intervention

  •  Willing to engage in crisis stabilization services and follow safety protocols

*We serve both adults and youth, and our team conducts a comprehensive assessment upon arrival to ensure the service is the right fit.
