23 - Hour Crisis Response
Pearls Center of Hope offers 23-Hour Crisis Stabilization Services an immediate, compassionate alternative to hospitalization for individuals in acute behavioral health crisis.
The purpose of this service is:

Immediate support for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis

Safe, structured environment focused on stabilization and recovery

Comprehensive assessment of mental health and immediate needs

Crisis intervention and symptom management services

Coordination with family members and support systems when appropriate
-
Connection to community resources and ongoing treatment options
-
Short-term care designed to prevent hospitalization when possible
-
Stabilization and discharge planning completed within a 23-hour period
Community Based Stabilization
Community-Based Stabilization provides immediate, short-term support in the community for individuals in crisis, helping restore stability and prevent hospitalization.
The Adult Intensive Crisis Stabilization Program helps individuals (age 18 and older) who have an acute psychiatric disorders such as severe psychosis or depression, intrusive behaviors, or extreme thoughts of suicide or harm to others. Patients that struggle with daily activities or experience acute episodes of a recurrent condition may be candidates for this treatment.
Patients in the program receive intensive psychiatric management to help them stabilize as quickly as possible. Continued treatment is offered to meet ongoing mental, emotional, and physical needs.
Our compassionate team of mental health clinicians work with activity therapists and case managers to provide comprehensive care to all patients. The program includes group therapy and educational sessions focused on relapse prevention and improved relationships and communication.
Patient Qualifications for Crisis
To qualify for these services the individual must meet two of the following criteria at the time of admission of service:

(A) Experiencing difficulty in establishing and maintaining normal interpersonal relationships to such a degree that the individual is at risk of psychiatric hospitalization, homelessness, or isolation from social support

(B) Experiencing difficulty in activities in daily living such as maintaining personal hygiene, preparing food and maintaining adequate nutrition, or managing finances to such a degree that health or safety is jeopardized.

(C) Exhibiting such inappropriate behavior, the immediate intervention is documented by a mental health, social services, or judicial system are or have been necessary

(D) Exhibiting difficulty in cognitive ability such that the individual is unable to recognize personal danger or significantly inappropriate social behavior.
Peer Support
To qualify for these services the individual must meet two of the following criteria at the time of admission of service:
Peer Recovery Support Specialists are individuals who are in recovery from substance use or co-occurring mental health disorders. Their life experiences and recovery allow them to provide recovery support in such a way that others can benefit from their experiences.
Outpatient Counseling
Outpatient Counseling provides compassionate, high-quality support through both in-person therapy in Petersburg, Virginia, and secure telehealth services available statewide.
We serve individuals ages 5 to 95—including children, adolescents, and adults—through individual, couples, marriage, family, and group therapy. Using a variety of evidence-based approaches, including talk therapy, we support clients facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, PTSD, panic attacks, and feelings of disconnection.

Mental Health Skill-Building
Mental Health Skill-Building Services are time-limited trainings and supports that assist individuals with achieving and maintaining community stability. Qualified mental health professionals help individuals develop independent living skills, assist with identifying and utilizing community resources, provide assistance with medication management, and monitor psychical health and nutrition.
Areas of skill building are determined by individual need and services take place in the individual’s home and in their community.

Medication Management
Intensive In-Home Services
Intensive In-Home Services (IIHS) in Virginia are designed to support children and adolescents who are at risk of being placed outside their homes due to severe behavioral, emotional, or mental health issues. These services aim to provide therapeutic interventions within the home environment to help stabilize the family and improve the child's functioning.
Key components of IIHS include:

Individual and Family Therapy: Providing counseling to both the child and family members to address underlying issues and improve relationships.

Crisis Intervention: Offering immediate support during crises to prevent out-of-home placements.

Behavior Management: Teaching skills to manage and reduce problematic behaviors.

Life Skills Training: Helping children develop independent living skills.

Parenting Support: Assisting parents with strategies to better support their child's needs.
